With the extension of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition to 2030, as adopted by the UN General Assembly, there is renewed momentum to accelerate actions to include aquatic foods as a vital pillar of sustainable food systems, global food security and nutrition. This kick-off conference will highlight important actions in advancing sustainable aquatic food systems for food security and nutrition. It will showcase knowledge and actions across the core dimensions of food security, with emphasis on improving access to sufficient, safe, and nutritious aquatic foods that meet dietary needs and food preferences, leaving no one behind. Building on this, the event will provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration and kick off the final five years of the Nutrition Decade. The event will identify actions and opportunities, including bridging the UN Decade of Action on Nutrition and the UN Decade of Ocean Science for Sustainable Development, to accelerate impact and scale solutions. By convening diverse stakeholders across nutrition, fisheries, aquaculture, ocean science, and sustainable development, the event aims to mobilize actions to fulfill our commitments and fully integrate aquatic foods into strategies for sustainable food systems for food security and nutrition.
