| Dear Network Colleagues, In accordance with the decision made at the annual network meeting of the Global Action Network Food from the Ocean and Inland Waters for Food Security and Nutrition in October 2025, you are hereby invited to participate in a zoom meeting dedicated to those interested in contributing to the planning of the Kick-off event. With the extension of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition to 2030 (as adopted by the UN General Assembly), we now have renewed momentum to accelerate actions to include aquatic foods as a vital pillar of sustainable food systems, global food security and nutrition. The Kick-off might include highlighting key achievements to date in advancing sustainable aquatic food systems for food security and nutrition. We may showcase knowledge and actions across the core dimensions of food security, with emphasis on access to sufficient, safe and nutritious aquatic foods, meeting dietary needs and food preferences, and ensuring noone is left behind. The session might also facilitate collaborative planning for the final five years identifying priorities and synergies such as bridging the UN Nutrition Decade and the UN Decade of Ocean Science.
