Sustainable Aquatic Food Systems: ” A people-centered approach for planetary and human health”

Aquatic food systems remain an overlooked and underutilized potential in global food systems dialogue. This event seeks to identify actionable steps to accelerate the transition towards sustainable food systems by fully integrating aquatic foods into the broader agenda. The UN Decade of Action on Nutrition 2020-2030, calls for efforts and new initiatives to build momentum for stronger nutrition focus in the global food systems agenda. It is crucial that we enhance our systems thinking, efficiently translate science into policy and promote and showcase good practices for safe, healthy and climate smart food systems. By aligning with the climate action processes and COP30 we may amplify the role of aquatic foods in achieving sustainable, resilient, and equitable food systems.
The event will convene a dynamic and diverse group of panelists, including young and local voices alongside high-level policy makers, scientists, and key UN agencies. Together they will explore possible solutions and ways to achieve sustainable food systems that deliver safe and nutritious food for all.
